How our data is sourced, processed, and updated
All agency data is sourced exclusively from the CMS Provider Data Catalog— the official public dataset maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for Medicare quality oversight.
To independently verify any data point, download the source file directly from the link above. We encourage it — that transparency is a feature, not a limitation.
The last ingestion ran on April 8, 2026. The database currently contains 12,251 agencies.
The table below lists every field published from the CMS dataset, with honest coverage estimates. Coverage percentages reflect actual data completeness — not what we wish were true.
| Field | Coverage | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| CMS Certification Number (CCN) | 100% | Primary unique identifier for every agency |
| Provider Name | 100% | Legal business name as registered with CMS |
| Address (street, city, state, zip) | ~99% | Mailing address from CMS registration |
| Phone Number | ~95% | Listed contact number; some agencies have no public phone |
| Ownership Type | ~85% | Proprietary, non-profit, or government. ~15% null in CMS source. |
| Certification Date | ~90% | Date agency was first certified by Medicare |
| Overall Star Rating (1–5) | 65% | CMS quality scoring. Not all agencies are rated. |
| Quality of Patient Care Star | ~65% | Outcome-based quality metric |
| Patient Survey Star | ~50% | Based on HHCAHPS patient survey results. Subset of agencies surveyed. |
| County | ~90% | County of primary service address |
Fields not listed (e.g., survey deficiency history, enforcement actions) are not available in the CMS CASPER dataset used. We do not display data we do not have.
✓ What it is
⚠ What it isn't
HHAdata.com does not store, transmit, or process protected health information (PHI). All data on this platform is publicly available CMS administrative data about agencies — not patients. We are not a covered entity under HIPAA. Independent verification: all columns in our database relate to agency registration, quality metrics, and contact information — no patient identifiers, diagnoses, or clinical records of any kind.
